There is a record breaking mental health crisis with kids & teens, and with current meditation and other mental health interventions, it is difficult to establish a repeating habit to influence long term behavior.
The goal of this project is to build and release a game for the emWave pro software by HeartMath that that will support students in the learning and practice of self-regulation. By making HeartMath’s techniques and teachings more engaging and interactive through games, we aim to improve the tools for emotional resilience, and increase engagement with the youth of this generation.
We want to help people who are looking for solutions to mental and physical health challenges, and introduce them to HRV biofeedback and emotional regulation in a fun and engaging way. We especially see the need to help kids and their families, which is our research and designs are geared towards that audience and why interactivity and storytelling is a key part of our strategy.
For the initial scope of the project, we aim to create a design that is simple and straightforward for the wide age range in our audience. There is a simple feedback loop and core mechanic that will reward you for each daily consecutive "session" in the emWave Pro. Thematically, we wanted to gear our narrative towards concepts focused by HeartMath's initiatives, such as the electromagnetic fields of our hearts and our planet. We made several 2D and 3D prototypes, wireframes and environments to convey the concept.
The game is currently in the development phase.
